Wladimir Klitschko Profile PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 06 May 2012 00:00

Along with brother Vitali, Wladimir Klitschko is part of a monopoly over the sports betting boxing Heavyweight division. The younger of the two Klitschko brothers, Wladimir is the reigning WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring Heavyweight Champion. Since 2005 the Klitschko brothers have become one of the most dominant forces in professional sports, as neither has lost a fight. As a result, many online betting sites believe the Heavyweight division should be eliminated, because there isn’t any money to be made. Today we will look at how Wladimir Klitschko rose to dominance.

Wladimir Klitschko was born on March 25, 1976 in the Ukraine. In 60 career fights, Klitschko has been dominant, winning 57 and losing only three fights. As a matter of fact, Klitschko hasn’t lost a fight since April 10, 2004 when Lamon Brewster won the WBO Heavyweight Title by fifth round technical knockout. Since then, Wladimir Klitschko has gone on an impressive 14-fight win streak. Included in that NBA win streak, is a rematch victory over the aforementioned Lamon Brewster, by corner stoppage.

Prior to his 2006 victory over Chris Byrd, Wladimir Klitschko was won of four Heavyweight Champions. From 2006 until 2009, Klitschko would spend the three years and eight fights unifying all of the other Heavyweight Championships with his own. Meanwhile, older brother Vitali Klitschko would win a few other belts, to give the Klitschko’s a stranglehold on the Heavyweight Division. As of this writing, the Klitschko’s have not sparred with one another, let alone arranged for a showdown to determine who the best fighter between the two is. Thus, there is speculation that the duo may retire in the next couple of years, as they do not have any competition left to face. Also as of this writing, the Klitschko’s are ranked third and fourth in many boxing magazines top 10 best fighters.

Juan Manuel Marquez Profile PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 20 April 2012 00:00

In just over two weeks time, the world of boxing will be taking up the majority of betting lines at sportsbooks across North America, including Bodog. Over the past couple of months, three fighters have been mentioned almost regularly by diehard and casual fans alike, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez. Long considered the last of a dying breed of fighter, Juan Manuel Marquez has become a fan favorite after he took Pacquiao to the limit in their last fight together. Today we will look at why Marquez should be the next to fight Floyd Mayweather. Here is a profile of Dinamita.

Many diehard boxing enthusiasts consider Juan “Dinamita” Manuel Marquez, to be a man of the people. While he doesn’t receive the same sort of recognition as Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr. Dinamita has one of the most impressive records in boxing. Through 61 professional fights, the 38 year old from Mexico City, has a record of 54 – six – one with 39 of his 54 wins by knockout. Three of the six losses Dinamita has had have come to the aforementioned Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr. tandem. In fact, when Dinamita retires, he will most likely be remembered for his thrilling trilogy with Pacquiao, who many would argue he technically won two of the three fights against.

The third fight in the trilogy specifically has fans and media, we included doubting the judge’s score cards to this day, as Dinamita appeared to be the clear victor at the end of the match. However, as MLB blogs can indicate, boxing has long been a sport in which favoritism is prevalent. In other words, it isn’t always about who is winning the fight, rather then whom the judges like more. For example, in that third and final fight, Dinamita dominated the entire fight, controlling the pace, but because Pacquiao is more popular, he received the judge’s decisions.
